Editorial Silk Series

Six silk pieces built for the lens — movement, sheen and drama.

Fitting a silk editorial gown in the studio

Project Overview

Made For The Camera

A fashion magazine commissioned six silk looks for a “movement” editorial: garments that billow, catch light and hold impossible shapes mid-twirl. We had three weeks from brief to shoot day.

Charmeuse, organza and raw silk were cut on the bias, weighted invisibly and finished to survive wind machines, water spray and twelve hours under hot lights.

The Challenge

Beauty Under Pressure

Editorial garments face abuse no normal clothing ever meets: clamped, pinned, soaked and yanked between frames. Each piece needed hidden engineering — inner corsetry, snap panels, weighted hems — invisible to the lens.

Our Approach

Preview, Then Commit

We modelled each look in 3D first, testing how the silk would fall in motion. The stylist approved drape on screen, so the three-week making window held with a day to spare for on-set standby.

“Not a single malfunction across two shoot days — unheard of with silk. The hidden corsetry saved the cover look.”
